This is notable: a conversation between New Jersey people entirely without reference to "what exit you live offa?".

And in the end, the snowstorm yesterday was not nearly as bad as predicted. Not exactly a calamity this time out. The main roads stayed pretty clear, so the best the government could do was early dismissal to try to prevent absolute gridlock for evening rush hour. I must grudgingly agree with the decision, although I would really have loved to stay in bed all day. But then, that's what sick leave is for.

This has got to be one of the signs of the apocalypse. The only question is who comes off worst: the man, the woman or the legal system.

The weather forecasts are predicting snow and sleet for the Washington area tomorrow, and every schoolchild and federal desk-sitter is anxiously awaiting the verdict from the good folks at OPM. On the one hand, it's embarassing for the capital city of the most important country in the world to come to a grinding halt every time the weather gets bad. But on the other hand, I did just get in a Netflix order today...

Uh oh, Washingtonians. I heard the words "accumulating snow" in the forecast for tomorrow, and you know what that means. Please drop whatever you are doing and proceed IMMEDIATELY to the nearest grocery store and buy all the eggs, milk and toilet paper you can carry.

"Power corrupts. Power Point corrupts absolutely." (via Federal Wage Slave) I find the key to successful use of Power Point is to use as much animation and as many sound effects as possible, to compensate for my droning monotone delivery. Oh, and to use the latest photos going around the e-mail systems. People love that.

"Pockets of dysfunction" - nice, if you can consider entire directorates as pockets. Nobody I've talked to in CBP or ICE is happy with the transition, and the less said about TSA, the better.

I think it was Marisa Tomei who said, "Dead on balls accurate. It's an industry term."

Personal comments, opinions and observations from someone stuck inside the Capital Beltway.
